Peace in the Region Difficult Without Opening Roads: Pashinyan

Peace in the region will be difficult without opening roads. This was stated by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during the "Silk Road" International Conference in Tbilisi.

He emphasized that the historic term "Silk Road" is associated with prosperity, peace, development, and cooperation for everyone.

"Therefore, if a busy, active road is a sign of cooperation, peace, and success, then closed roads indicate problems. We know this from our own experience. Our roads are open with 2 of our 4 neighbors, which signifies friendly relations with them. Our roads are closed with 2 of our neighbors, which is a vivid testimony to the existing complexities in our relations," said Pashinyan.

The Prime Minister noted that it is clear that the South Caucasus needs stable peace. Peace is a situation where countries live with open borders, connected by economic, political, and human ties, and where all issues are resolved through diplomatic means, developing a tradition of dialogue.

"This is real peace, and as you can see, open borders, as well as economic, political, and cultural ties, are impossible without roads. This is why our government has developed and presented the "Peace Interchange" project as an important part of the peace agenda," said the Prime Minister.
