PM Pashinyan Discusses Relations with Turkish Neighbors

The Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, has stated that he remains optimistic about the prospects for peaceful resolution with Azerbaijan in the coming months, as he expressed in an interview with the Wall Street Journal.

According to the Prime Minister, the future of the region lies in the opening of closed borders and trade routes, including land communication between Azerbaijan and Turkey through Armenia, while respecting Armenia's sovereignty. "Security must be acquired not only through the army but also through regional peace," he emphasized.

In response to a question regarding Armenia's historical relations with Russia, Pashinyan urged instead to focus on the much longer history of Armenia's relationships with its Turkish neighbors, Turkey and Azerbaijan. "This is where all the questions are hidden, and this is where all the answers to those questions are hidden," he said.

He stressed that Armenia must primarily work toward improving regional relations.
