Kremlin Unaware of Pashinyan's Comments on Russian Base in Armenia, Peskov

The Kremlin is unaware of the alleged lack of advantages regarding the presence of a Russian base in Armenia, as stated by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. This was conveyed by Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of Russia.

“We still do not know whether he made these remarks, and if he did, in what context. We do not have such data,” he told Interfax while commenting on the report by The Wall Street Journal.

Earlier, in an interview with the media outlet, Pashinyan expressed that he does not see any advantages in the continued presence of the Russian military base in Armenia.

“We cannot accept the Wall Street Journal as a primary source,” added the Kremlin representative.

The 102nd Russian military base has been located in Gyumri since 1995. The duration of the base's presence in Armenia was extended until 2044 in 2011.
