Marutyan Sworn in for 900,000 AMD, Avinyan for 87 Million AMD: 'Hayastani Joghout'

'Hayastani Joghout' newspaper reports that with 9 percent of the votes from Yerevan residents, the ruling Civil Contract Party (CP) has taken power in the capital city, becoming embroiled in corruption. This is confirmed by official information.

It is known that 87,318,000 AMD, or about 220,000 USD, was spent on the swearing-in ceremony of the Mayor of Yerevan. The astronomical amounts spent have become the most discussed topic in our country, as it sets a historic record for spending such a sum on a protocol event.

The Yerevan City Hall informed us that the organizer and responsible person for the event is Shavarsh Grigoryan, the secretary of the Yerevan City Hall staff and the acting head. 'Hayastani Joghout' sent a written inquiry to the Yerevan City Hall, requesting information on how much money was allocated for the swearing-in ceremony of the former mayor, revolutionary Hayk Marutyan, on October 13, 2018, and how the funds were spent.

The press secretary of the Mayor of Yerevan, Hayk Kostanyan, promptly responded to our inquiry, informing us that for Hayk Marutyan's swearing-in, 900,000 AMD was spent from the community budget for refreshments. The figures are, of course, incomparable: the same event was organized by Hayk Marutyan in 2018, spending 900,000 AMD, while for the current mayor's swearing-in, 87,318,000 AMD was spent from the community budget.
