Details About Child Who Died from Measles

The health condition of a child with health issues who was infected with measles deteriorated sharply over the course of hours, as reported by the Ministry of Health of Armenia.

"A 1-year-and-8-month-old child in extremely critical health was hospitalized, and measles was diagnosed. The child had several accompanying illnesses. Within hours, the child's health condition sharply worsened, after which death was recorded. The child had not been vaccinated against measles," the agency's statement said.

As of October 25, there have been 471 laboratory-confirmed cases of measles in Armenia. Currently, 4 patients are hospitalized, with their health conditions assessed as moderate. Among the infected, 328 are children and 143 are adults. About 93% of the infected individuals are unvaccinated or inadequately vaccinated against measles.
