Humanitarian Ceasefire in Gaza to Be Discussed Today, Borell
A humanitarian pause is required in the military operations in Gaza, with priority given to the delivery of aid to the region. This statement was made by Josep Borell, the head of the EU's foreign policy service, during a meeting of EU foreign ministers in Luxembourg. The broadcast is conducted by the press service of the EU Council. The information is reported by tass.ru.
“There must be a humanitarian pause in Gaza. The establishment of a humanitarian ceasefire will be discussed today. It is essential for humanitarian aid to reach the region and be distributed. Hamas attacks on Israel must cease, and hostages should be released—these are the first steps towards de-escalation,” Borell stated.
“On the first day, 20 trucks were allowed to enter from Egypt, and around 20 more arrived yesterday. However, in normal times—without war—around 100 trucks would reach Gaza daily, so it is clear that 20 trucks are insufficient. It is important to provide more assistance; fuel is necessary for power plants and water purification systems to operate, without which even hospitals cannot function,” the head of the EU foreign policy service emphasized.
