Is it an honor for you to be elected mayor with the passive support of the Dogi 'Public Voice' party, because if they had not participated in the council session, this election would not have taken place? This question was directed to the newly elected mayor of Yerevan, Tigran Avinyan, by one of the journalists during a press conference today, October 10.

In response, Avinyan said, "It is very important to establish that the elections were free, fair, and transparent. If we continue to promote contrary theses, our society and our country will not benefit from it. It is a tremendous honor for me, first and foremost, that more than 32 percent of Yerevan residents have given their vote to our force and believed in our programs. It is a tremendous honor for me to serve them as the mayor of Yerevan, and it is a tremendous honor for me to implement the programs we promised to realize. We will carry out those programs."

Regarding other political forces, Avinyan mentioned that Yerevan residents voted for five political forces, each of which expressed its positions in its own way. One force decided to boycott the session, while another did not want to boycott it. "We and the 'Republic' have decided that we will sign a memorandum together and share the responsibility together. The remaining questions should be directed to the other forces," Avinyan stated.

He added that they have not shared positions, unlike some others: "During the post-election period, everyone saw everything. There is no need to call everything by names. Everything was public, and everyone openly conducted their dealings. We have stated that we reject this method. We refuse to form any alliance with factions that have different directions and ideological bases. If your programs are not about the same thing, if you do not consider the city of Yerevan and its residents, if you are not thinking about this country, if you are potentially serving the interests of another country, we cannot form an alliance with such forces. And no political trading has taken place on our side. This is a coalition based on cooperation."
