Makinyan Files Complaint to Prosecutor's Office Over Surenavan Village Mayor's Post
Attorney Amram Makinyan has submitted a complaint to the Prosecutor General's Office regarding a post made by the mayor of Surenavan community in the Ararat region, related to the residents of Artsakh.
It is noteworthy that Ani Vardazaryan, the administrative head of Surenavan village, posted on Facebook suggesting that the Artsakh residents participating in protests should be deprived of all forms of assistance.
"Considering that the publication made by the official contains the characteristics of a crime envisaged by Article 203 (Discrimination, differentiated treatment that violates the honor and dignity or rights and freedoms of individuals) and Article 236 (Obstructing or forcing participation in a public gathering) of the Armenian Criminal Code, I request that a criminal investigation be initiated and all legally prescribed measures be taken to comprehensively detect the alleged crimes," Makinyan wrote in his complaint.
It should be noted that Mayor Ani Vardazaryan later deleted this post.
According to recent data, 100,417 forcibly displaced persons have arrived in the Republic of Armenia from Nagorno-Karabakh.
Recall that the "National Committee" is holding a protest at the Republic Square in Yerevan today at 17:00, demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
