Weapons Were Laid Beside Me, They Said They Were Impatiently Waiting for Me in Baku: An Artsakh Man Reveals Details
A man from Artsakh has shared harrowing details of his captivity, revealing that he was taken without any prior inquiry, threatened, and forced to say what he was told. In a video circulating online, the man stated in an interview with Azerbaijani media that the Armenian people are a treacherous nation that must disappear.
In another video obtained by Tert.am, the same man, identified as Mher Zargaryan, claimed that during the 44-day war, everything seemed fine, urging Armenians not to lose hope, and noted, “Mehriban, the ‘guy’ from the front, Mher Zargaryan, is coming.”
The news outlet connected with Mher Zargaryan, who provided further details. “I had two options, either the journalists would summon me and film this video, or they would take my child and sacrifice him before my eyes,” he explained.
Mher revealed the demands made of him and the exact text he was instructed to say. “I was told to say that everything is good in Azerbaijan, to label Arayik Harutyunyan a traitor, name generals, and say that they are the traitors, but I did not say that. I lied and claimed I did not know anyone by name. I was forced to repeat the same line three to four times, and if I failed to do so consecutively, there would be no second warning for me. I said I would do whatever you want, just let my child cross the border,” he noted.
He mentioned that he and his wife were taken separately and compelled to repeat the same statements, and they communicated with him in Armenian. “They spoke Armenian better than I did. They put a gun next to me, played my old video, and told me that they were impatiently waiting for me in Baku to sacrifice me on the day of the 44-day war,” said Mher.
According to Mher Zargaryan, he witnessed Azerbaijanis abduct another man from the bridge of Hakari: “I was not the first; they took someone right before my eyes, two cars ahead of me.”
