“We hope Armenians will be wise and make the right decision,” Zakharova

Maria Zakharova, the spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, commented on the statement made by U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Yuri Kim.

“Assistant Secretary of State Ms. Kim has admitted that the U.S. has chosen Armenia as yet another victim in its geopolitical games. The goal is to completely detach Armenia from Russia and direct it toward the West. This is stated by those in the U.S. who are considered the ideologists and implementers of this policy.

When we hear from the authorities in Yerevan that their actions against Russia are not anti-Russian and do not harm Armenian-Russian relations, this has been answered in the U.S. They have put Armenia on a very dangerous path, and this has already been publicly voiced in Washington by Yuri Kim and Victoria Nuland.

We hope that the Armenian authorities will take into account the seriousness of the new adventure initiated by the West. We hope that the wise Armenian nation will be politically prudent in making the right decisions for both their state and for the region.”
