Armenia's Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Comments on Zakharova's Call to Stop Bloodshed
The Republic of Armenia has consistently adhered to the resolution of all existing issues solely through political and diplomatic means. This was stated by Armenia's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ani Badalyan in response to the announcement made by Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
Today, Maria Zakharova addressed the large-scale offensive initiated by Azerbaijan against Nagorno-Karabakh, stating that the Russian side calls on the conflicting parties to stop the bloodshed, immediately cease military operations, and return to the path of political-diplomatic resolution.
The spokesperson of the Armenian Foreign Ministry emphasized that the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia are not involved in military operations. “Armenia has always been committed to solving all existing issues exclusively through political and diplomatic means, with corresponding proposals,” stated Badalyan.
It should be noted that Azerbaijan has launched a large-scale attack against Artsakh today. According to a statement from the Artsakh Ministry of Defense, at around 13:00, Azerbaijani forces violated the ceasefire along the entire length of the contact line, launching missile strikes.
The Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense announced that it is conducting local anti-terrorism measures. The Azerbaijani military agency claims that they are striking front-line positions with high-precision weapons, destroying the positions of Armenian armed forces, firing points, as well as combat equipment and military facilities. They also noted that supposedly civilian populations and civilian infrastructure are not being targeted.
However, Artsakh's human rights defender Gegham Stepanyan reported that as a result of Azerbaijan's attacks, there are at least 2 casualties among the civilian population, including one child, and another 11 people have been injured, of whom 8 are children.
