Azerbaijan Did Not Inform Russia in Advance About 'Counter-Terrorism Operation' in Nagorno-Karabakh, Says Zakharova
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, has denied reports that Azerbaijan allegedly alerted Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh in advance about today's 'counter-terrorism operation'.
"This does not correspond to reality. The information was relayed to the Russian contingent just a few minutes before the military operations commenced," Zakharova wrote on Telegram.
It should be noted that Azerbaijan has launched a large-scale attack against Artsakh today. According to the Artsakh Ministry of Defense, around 1:00 PM, the Azerbaijani armed forces violated the ceasefire along the entire length of the contact line, delivering missile and artillery strikes.
The Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense has announced that local counter-terrorism measures are being conducted. The Azerbaijani military asserts that they are striking frontline and deep positions with precision weaponry, destroying positions of the Armenian armed forces, fire points, as well as combat resources and military facilities.
It is indicated that the civilian population and civilian infrastructure are not being targeted.
Furthermore, it has been reported that since the morning, the Azerbaijani side has disseminated misinformation about Artsakh four times, thereby preparing the ground for this provocation.
