Bayramov Discusses Baku–Yerevan Relations with Bono

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, discussed the process of normalizing relations between Baku and Yerevan with Louis Bono, senior advisor on Caucasus negotiations at the U.S. Department of State. The information was reported by the press service of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.

"The meeting addressed the current situation in the region, the normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, the peace process, and existing threats and challenges," states the announcement.

It is noteworthy that before visiting Azerbaijan, Louis Bono was in Armenia, having met with the Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia, Armen Grigoryan, on September 14. During their conversation, they discussed the situation surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh, the humanitarian crisis, efforts to overcome it, and issues related to the normalization of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations.

Recall that in 2021, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev expressed readiness to sign a peace agreement with Armenia. In March 2022, Baku presented a five-point proposal to Yerevan regarding the normalization of relations. The Armenian side made amendments and sent back its version. Since then, several rounds of negotiations at various levels have taken place between the parties.

Recently, high-level meetings between Armenia and Azerbaijan have been held in Washington, Brussels, Moscow, and Chișinău. The latest meeting at the level of foreign ministers of Armenia, Russia, and Azerbaijan took place on July 25 in Moscow.
