Our People Have the Full Right to Choose Their Leaders: Artak Beglaryan
Former advisor to the Prime Minister of Artsakh, Artak Beglaryan, writes: "International players making statements regarding the election of the new President of the Republic of Artsakh must take into account the following:
1. Our people have the full right to choose their leaders, based on our exercised right to self-determination, as well as our effective and long-standing experience in building and developing a democratic state.
2. Unlike the authoritarian Azerbaijan, we typically choose our leaders through democratic means.
3. Unfortunately, due to the threats of Azerbaijani genocidal blockade and aggression, we are forced to elect our new President through the parliament during this transitional period. Conducting these nationwide and direct elections without international observers is a serious violation of our political rights.
4. The statements from international organizations imply recognition of our rights, the electoral process, and its outcomes, especially when they are willing to participate in negotiations with our authorities," Beglaryan stated on his Telegram channel.
