Brazilian President Says Putin Will Not Be Arrested if He Attends G20 Summit
Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva announced that Vladimir Putin will not be arrested if he decides to personally attend the G20 summit in 2024. He confirmed that he has invited the Russian president to the next G20 meeting in Rio de Janeiro and assured his safety.
“I believe that Putin can easily travel to Brazil. I can say that if I am the President of Brazil, and he comes to Brazil, he will not be arrested in any way,” Lula stated.
Brazil has signed the Rome Statute, which serves as the foundation for the International Criminal Court. The Hague court issued an arrest warrant for President Vladimir Putin this February.
