Armenian Ambassador to Russia Summoned by Foreign Ministry: Reasons Revealed

The Armenian Ambassador to Russia, Vagharshak Harutyunyan, has been summoned by the Russian Foreign Ministry. Russia has expressed its stern position and issued a note of protest to Armenia. This information has been reported by the Russian Foreign Ministry and conveyed by gazeta.ru.

The statement indicates that the Armenian leadership has recently taken a series of unfriendly steps towards Russia. The first action is the initiation of the ratification process of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, the second is the visit of Armenian Prime Minister's wife Anna Hakobyan to Kyiv, along with the transfer of humanitarian aid to Kyiv, and the third is the conducting of military exercises in Armenia with the participation of the USA.

It has also been reported that Harutyunyan was given a note of protest, which states that the offensive remarks made by the President of the Armenian National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, directed at Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, and the Russian Foreign Ministry as a whole are unacceptable.

At the same time, Moscow confirms that Russia and Armenia remain allies, and all agreements for developing and strengthening partnership relations will be fully implemented for the benefit of the peoples of both countries. "Among other issues, this also pertains to organizing CSTO military exercises and subsequently sending a mission to observe the situation, which will help in the resolution between Armenia and Azerbaijan," the statement reads. It is noted that the Russian side will continue to exert all necessary efforts for this purpose.
