It is ridiculous that the entity that is supposed to protect Artsakh residents is currently holding them in blockade: Alen Simonian
This is a mockery: This was stated by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Alen Simonian, in an interview with NEWS.am on September 6, addressing the official statements from Moscow, claiming it is unacceptable for Armenia to accuse Russia while recognizing Nagorno-Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan.
“So, the fact that we signed a statement on November 9 means nothing? The recognition of each other's territorial integrity since 1991, starting from the Almaty Declaration, where Russia is also a member, does that count today? Who do they think they are fooling? If it’s their own circle, then perhaps that could work, but they cannot deceive the Armenian people or assume that the Armenian people do not understand this,” he stated.
He recalled that on November 17, 2020, Russian President Putin explicitly stated that Nagorno-Karabakh and adjacent territories are internationally recognized as part of Azerbaijan: “Let them look at that interview and answer the question: who recognized Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan? The fact that their soldiers can’t do anything best is not being discussed. Let our colleagues understand that maybe they can deceive their own people for some time with propaganda, but they won’t be able to deceive our people.”
“It is ridiculous that the entity that is supposed to protect Artsakh residents is currently holding them in blockade. They say, ‘You know, you have verbally stated that you recognize Azerbaijan's territorial integrity, that’s why we can’t do anything.’ Yes, Russia is keeping Nagorno-Karabakh in blockade through its inaction. If it serves their country’s interests, even without an embassy there, they can take action. Let them be honest and say: we are unable, we do not have that power. Their perception regarding their empire is damaging themselves today,” declared Alen Simonian.
