Armenia is Arming Itself and Preparing to Defend Its Borders Until the End: Alen Simonyan
I recognize the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. This was stated by the Speaker of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, during a conversation with journalists, answering the question of whether he recognizes Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan.
In response to a remark that in 2021 the ruling coalition had promised voters to liberate occupied territories and emphasize the right to self-determination for Artsakh, and why the standards have been lowered now, Alen Simonyan replied: "Because negotiations are taking place. The Prime Minister often speaks about the need for statements from Azerbaijan that would de-escalate the situation and bring the signing of a peace agreement closer. Armenia is making such statements on its part, while also arming itself and preparing to defend its borders until the end. When the Prime Minister speaks about 29,800 square kilometers, he is not only addressing the outside world and our people; he is also addressing himself, drawing a red line."
