Responsibility for Transferring Uranium Shells to Kyiv Will Fall on the US - Peskov

The responsibility for the decision to hand over depleted uranium shells to Ukraine will rest with the leadership of the United States. This was stated by Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of Russia.

According to him, such a decision is very bad news and will have quite painful consequences, as has happened in history before. It can be said that in Ukraine, where the shells will be used, the same situation may be repeated as it was in the former Yugoslavia.

“This is bad. This has already been part of Europe’s new history; those bombs were actively used against the former Yugoslavia. The use of shells has had many sad consequences, which have even been recorded by international organizations. Moreover, the use of those shells has led to a rapid increase in the number of people suffering from cancer and other diseases. These consequences are also felt by their next generations who have somehow come into contact with it and were in the areas of application of that weapon,” Peskov emphasized.

The responsibility for making such a decision, noted the press secretary of the Russian leader, will undoubtedly fall exclusively on the leadership of the United States. Everyone should be aware of the consequences.

Information about Washington's plans to transfer depleted uranium munitions to Ukraine had been known since March. It was revealed yesterday that the US will provide depleted uranium shells as part of a new $175 million military aid package to Kyiv.
