Ruben Shakharyan, Employee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Passes Away

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports: “It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Ruben Shakharyan, a long-time employee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at the age of 79. His extensive service contributed significantly to the operations of the RA MFA.”

“Ruben Shakharyan was born on September 19, 1944, and graduated from the construction faculty of the Yerevan Polytechnic Institute. Since 1976, he has worked in various state institutions, including as the Deputy Dean for International Students' Affairs at the Yerevan Polytechnic Institute, Assistant to the President of the National Academy of Sciences for external relations, Senior Referent at the External Relations Department of the Government of Armenia, Deputy President of the Armenian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Chief Specialist of the External Relations Division of the Government Staff.”

“From 1999 to 2012, Ruben Shakharyan served as the Administrator of Affairs of the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 2022, he held the position of Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and later became an Advisor in the Department of Management of Affairs of the RA MFA.”

“In 1999, Ruben Shakharyan was awarded the diplomatic rank of Advisor. In 2009, for his services to the RA MFA and his long-term conscientious work, he was awarded the John Kirakosyan Memorial Medal. In 2018, for excellently performing his official duties during his long service, he was awarded the 1st Class Honorary Medal of the RA MFA.”
