New Coronavirus Variants Rapidly Spreading: France's Health Ministry Call
The French Ministry of Health is considering the possibility of accelerating the re-vaccination of the population due to the spread of new variants of the coronavirus, said French Health Minister Aurélien Rousseau on France 2.
“A new phase of vaccinations against the coronavirus will begin on October 17, but it may start sooner if the new Covid variant spreads at a rapid pace,” he stated.
Rousseau called on the French people to demonstrate responsibility and wear masks when necessary, as well as to self-isolate in the event of a Covid infection.
Earlier this year, French authorities canceled the mandatory isolation for individuals infected with COVID-19 due to the decline of the pandemic. According to statistics, as of January 1, around 54 million people in France have been vaccinated against the coronavirus, which accounts for 80% of the country's population, with 41 million having received a second dose.
