Romanian President: 'If confirmed that this is a Russian drone, then this situation will be completely unacceptable'
Romanian President Klaus Iohannis has called for an urgent investigation following reports in Romanian media regarding the discovery of drone debris in the country. This comes despite earlier denials from the Ministry of Defense, the Foreign Ministry, and Iohannis himself regarding claims from Kyiv that drone parts had fallen in Romania.
In connection with the reported information, Iohannis stated, 'I have demanded that the competent authorities initiate an urgent professional investigation into the origin of the debris, as well as clarify the moment and circumstances under which they ended up in Romanian territory. If it is confirmed that this is a Russian drone, then this situation will be completely unacceptable and will be considered a serious violation of Romania's sovereignty and territorial integrity as a NATO ally.'
Earlier on Wednesday, Romanian broadcaster Antena 3, citing Defense Minister Angela Tîlvăra, reported that debris has been found in the country that could be parts of drones. Tîlvăra emphasized that the objects do not pose a danger.
