Erdogan Summarizes Talks with Vladimir Putin

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, returning from Russia, summarized his talks with Vladimir Putin during a conversation with reporters on the plane, as is tradition.

"We have completed our visit to Sochi at the invitation of President Putin. In our meetings, we thoroughly discussed our bilateral relations with Russia, regional and global developments, and exchanged thoughts about the future. We aim to continue increasing our trade volume, which currently stands at $69 billion. Together, we have set a goal of reaching $100 billion," said Erdogan.

He noted that the best example of cooperation was the Black Sea grain deal, which has significantly contributed to combating the global food crisis. Erdogan stated that he would discuss the situation regarding this deal with the UN Secretary-General.

"This month we have the United Nations General Assembly. There, we will have additional meetings with Guterres to discuss these issues as well. As a result of our investments, the UN has prepared a new package that will pave the way for revitalizing the initiative. During our visit to Moscow, our foreign minister discussed the technical aspects of this new package with his Russian counterpart, Lavrov. I also discussed this issue in detail with Mr. Putin. I believe we will achieve good results in a short time that will meet expectations," said the Turkish President, expressing hope that the war in Ukraine would end soon.

He emphasized that Ankara is ready to contribute its efforts to this end. "During our meetings in Sochi, we also exchanged ideas about recent developments in Syria, the South Caucasus, Libya, and Africa. I hope these communications will benefit our region, especially Turkey and Russia," he added.

It is noteworthy that this was Erdogan's first visit to Russia after being re-elected as president.
