Azerbaijan Has Not Yet Responded to Armenia's Latest Proposals on Peace Treaty, Grigoryan Says
Azerbaijan has not yet responded to Armenia's latest proposals regarding the peace treaty. This was stated by the Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia, Mher Grigoryan, during a conversation with reporters.
“According to the information I have, there has been no response to the latest proposal,” Grigoryan said.
Earlier, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that Armenia had conveyed new proposals for a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan to the Azerbaijani side.
It is noteworthy that in 2021, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev announced his willingness to sign a peace treaty with Armenia. In March 2022, Baku transmitted its five-point proposal regarding the normalization of relations to Yerevan. The Armenian side made amendments and sent its version back. Since then, there have been several rounds of negotiations at various levels between the sides.
Recently, high-level meetings between Armenian and Azerbaijani officials have been held in Washington, Brussels, Moscow, and Chișinău. The last meeting, conducted at the level of foreign ministers of Armenia, Russia, and Azerbaijan, took place on July 25 in Moscow.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has repeatedly stated that an important condition for signing the peace treaty is the so-called opening of the “Zangezur Corridor” and the withdrawal of military personnel from Nagorno-Karabakh.
