Artsakh's Foreign Ministry Clarifies When Dialogue Between Stepanakert and Baku Is Possible
The Artsakh side is ready to seek mutually acceptable solutions to this difficult conflict through negotiations and peaceful means. Artsakh's Foreign Minister Sergey Ghazaryan made this statement during a conversation with journalists near the Permanent Representation of Artsakh in Armenia, addressing the possibility of dialogue between Stepanakert and Baku.
“But this will only be possible within the framework of international mechanisms,” said Ghazaryan. He added that mediators are also involved in this process, working to create opportunities for direct dialogue under international mechanisms.
It should be noted that on August 31, during a government meeting, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan reiterated that the only solution to the humanitarian crisis created in Artsakh due to the blockade of the Lachin Corridor is dialogue between Baku and Stepanakert. He added that Azerbaijan is doing everything possible to frustrate this opportunity for dialogue.
Earlier, on August 1, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Artsakh issued a statement commenting on reports circulating in the Armenian information space about a possible meeting between representatives of Artsakh and Azerbaijan. The MFA of Artsakh emphasized that the authorities of the Republic of Artsakh are always ready to discuss reasonable proposals regarding the organization of meetings between representatives of Artsakh and Azerbaijan.
Furthermore, the MFA reiterated that dialogue between Artsakh and Azerbaijan must take place in an internationally coordinated format with the appropriate mandate.
