Yesterday's Events Cross a Red Line: Israeli Prime Minister

The Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, announced that illegal migrants participating in the unrest at the Eritrean embassy in Tel Aviv would be expelled from the country. This was reported by the Times of Israel.

He also identified illegal migration from Africa as a serious issue for Israel's future. “Yesterday's events crossed a red line. This is unrest and bloodshed, something we cannot accept. We demand strict measures against the disturbances, including their immediate expulsion,” Netanyahu stated during a meeting with ministers.

During the meeting, Benjamin Netanyahu instructed relevant authorities to develop a plan for the expulsion of remaining illegal migrants.

The Prime Minister noted that Israel had previously constructed a barrier along its border with Egypt to prevent illegal immigration.

On the morning of September 2, clashes erupted near the Eritrean embassy in Tel Aviv over the regime in Eritrea. Participants in the actions had turned over a hall where an event was to be held marking the 30th anniversary of current leader Isaias Afwerki's rule, damaging shops and vehicles. Police intervened in the disturbances involving supporters of the Eritrean regime and its opponents, and forces opened fire.

More than 150 people were injured, including 30 police officers. The police reported that 39 individuals were arrested during the clashes.
