Nikol Pashinyan Sends Congratulations on the Anniversary of the Adoption of Artsakh's Declaration of Independence
The Republic of Armenia will continue its efforts to ensure normal functioning, security, and the protection of rights in Artsakh. This was stated in the message of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, which he sent on the occasion of the 32nd anniversary of the adoption of the Artsakh Declaration of Independence. This information was reported by the press service of the Prime Minister of Armenia.
Pashinyan noted that 32 years ago, when the Declaration of Independence for Artsakh was adopted, the Armenian population of Artsakh was witnessing the massacres in Sumgayit, Baku, and Ganja, and the adoption of the declaration was also prompted by an existential threat.
The Prime Minister emphasized that after the 44-day war, the people of Artsakh again face the threat of ethnic cleansing, which is also witnessed by the international community. Armenia expects that the international community will work to prevent the implementation of a policy of ethnic cleansing in Artsakh.
“I would like to emphasize once again that all statements asserting the non-existence of Artsakh as a territorial unit and the resolution of the Artsakh issue are baseless, as long as the issues concerning the security and rights protection of the Artsakh Armenians remain unaddressed,” Pashinyan stated.
The Prime Minister adheres to the view that a comprehensive and lasting resolution to the conflict should occur exclusively through a peaceful process, including dialogue between Baku and Stepanakert under international mechanisms.
It should be noted that in 1992, by a special decision, the National Assembly of Armenia declared unacceptable any international or domestic document that would feature the Republic of Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan.
