Engineer Killed During Construction Work Was from Sisian: Participated in the 44-Day War
Arman Babajanyan, who was killed in an explosion on September 2, had been serving in the military since the age of 18. He graduated from the Vazgen Sargsyan Military Academy and underwent retraining courses in Moscow last year, according to his relative Gor Babajanyan.
Witnesses reported that an explosive was placed among rocky outcrops and then an attempt was made to remotely detonate it. However, upon seeing it did not explode, they approached that area, at which point the device was activated and the explosion occurred.
Arman Babajanyan was 32 years old and from Sisian. He was married and had three sons, two of whom were school-aged while one attended kindergarten. His eldest son is 10 years old.
“He came on August 31, took his wife and children from Sisian to Goris. During the vacation, his wife and children returned to Sisian while I was staying in Goris for work. We met by chance; he was in a hurry, saying he had to go to the positions and would come back for a calm talk in a week or so,” Gor recounted.
During military operations, he was always at the hot spots, having participated in the 44-day war and the September 2022 military operations. He constantly reassured his relatives not to worry if he didn’t call for days.
“We are not just sitting in positions to call all the time. Don’t worry, I will be fine; I will manage to get out of here and come home,” Arman often said.
It has been reported by the Ministry of Defense that during engineering work (explosion work for road construction) on September 2, around 17:30, Arman Rubik Babajanyan from military unit N and soldier Arthur Haiki Poghosyan were killed in the explosion.
