Azerbaijan Protests BBC's 'Biased' Coverage of Armenian-Azerbaijani Relations

The Press Council of Azerbaijan has responded to the British BBC's 'provocative' activities, as characterized by the state body, stating that its broadcasting could be halted within the country.

In a statement released by the Press Council of Azerbaijan, it was noted that, 'In recent days, the BBC, including its Azerbaijani service, has been broadcasting 'biased' materials and making 'biased' statements regarding the relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, unilaterally covering the situation in the 'Karabakh economic region of Azerbaijan.'

The Press Council has concluded that the BBC's current approach towards the realities of independent Azerbaijan is undesirable. 'Either this organization must learn to respect our country's territorial integrity and sovereignty, issue an apology, and convincingly demonstrate its sincere intentions, or its activities in Azerbaijan should be suspended and its license revoked.'
