Zelensky to Participate in UN Security Council Meeting on Ukraine
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will attend a global leaders' meeting at the UN in New York, as well as a Security Council meeting on Ukraine scheduled for September 20, said Albania's ambassador to the UN, Ferit Hoxha, according to the Guardian.
“It is expected that Volodymyr Zelensky will participate in the UN’s annual gathering of world leaders in New York this month, as well as in the UN Security Council meeting on Ukraine,” Hoxha stated.
Earlier, the permanent representative of Albania had announced at a press conference that the UN Security Council meeting on Ukraine would be held at the level of heads of delegations on September 20.
The subject will be dedicated to “Maintaining Peace and Security in Ukraine,” as outlined in the agenda for the Security Council's September events.
From September 19 to 26, the high-level week of the UN General Assembly is expected to see participation from leaders of 99 countries, 48 prime ministers, and 32 foreign ministers.
The Russian delegation will be led by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, whose speech is scheduled for September 23. Other high-profile attendees will also include U.S. President Joe Biden.
