VIDEO: Storm 'Idalia' Intensifies to Category 4 in the Gulf of Mexico
The storm 'Idalia', formed over the Atlantic Ocean and approaching the southeastern coast of the United States over the Gulf of Mexico, has intensified to a Category 4 level. This information comes from the National Hurricane Center, as reported by TASS.
According to their data, wind gusts within the storm have increased to 59.7 m/s, which corresponds to the fourth category on the Saffir-Simpson scale, characterizing storms with maximum intensity.
Currently, 'Idalia' is located 145 km south of Tallahassee, Florida. The storm is moving northeast at a speed of 30 km/h. It is expected that the storm and damaging winds will hit Florida's Big Bend area.
