Video: Cameras Capture Moment of Powerful Explosion at Romanian Car Park, Casualties Reported
A powerful explosion occurred at a car park in the town of Crevedia, located 13 kilometers from Bucharest, the capital of Romania. As a result of the incident, 58 individuals were injured, with one confirmed dead, according to reports by RIA Novosti citing Romania's Emergency Situations Inspectorate.
Among the injured, 43 were employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, including 39 firefighters, two police officers, and two gendarmes. A total of 54 people were hospitalized across various medical facilities.
The first explosion took place at the Crevedia car park on Saturday evening, leading to a suspension of traffic in the area. Despite the efforts of firefighters, the fire spread to gas cylinders, causing several additional explosions. Emergency responders evacuated over three thousand people from a dangerous zone covering a radius of 700 meters.
An anti-crisis center has been established, and experts from the Ministry of Environment have been engaged to monitor air quality in the vicinity.
