Armenian Man Assaulted in Front of His Children in Yerevan, Ruben Melikyan Reports
A disturbing incident has come to light that needs public attention, particularly from organizations dealing with issues related to the Armenian diaspora. This was stated by Ruben Melikyan, co-founder of the NGO 'Legal Path' and former Human Rights Defender of Artsakh, on his Facebook page.
He elaborated, “So, days ago, our compatriot arrives in Yerevan with his family for a month to enjoy his homeland and to baptize his young children. They rent a house and car in a well-regarded neighborhood, and on the very first day he starts hearing, 'Buddy, don’t park here, it’s my spot.' The following day it’s another one, and then another. In short, they claim, 'This mountain is mine, this tree is mine.' Moreover, it does not concern private property.
On the third or fourth day, a 'conversation' in the yard of the rented house escalated into violence as two individuals physically assaulted him. They even entered the house and continued the beating in front of his small children, while hurling insults at the diaspora. This is absolutely outrageous.
I hope that law enforcement will operate strictly within the legal framework—swiftly and professionally. Those who commit such disgraceful acts must be punished severely.”
