The Case of Woman Who Threw Umbrella at Pashinyan Enters Court
On April 10, 2023, the case of a woman who threw an umbrella at Armenia's Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has entered the court system. This information has been obtained from the Judicial Information System.
47-year-old Narine Asatryan has been charged with throwing the umbrella in Pashinyan's direction. The case was filed in the first instance general jurisdiction court of Ararat and Vayots Dzor regions on August 17.
The woman has been accused under Article 44-452, part 3 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia (attempt to use violence against a public official, their close relatives, or individuals under their guardianship, aimed at interfering with the lawful professional or political activities of the official), which is punishable by imprisonment for a period of 2 to 5 years.
A preventive measure has been applied to Narine Asatryan, prohibiting her from leaving the country. The case has been assigned to Judge Mikhail Grigoryan.
