Woman Arrested for Violence and Sexual Assault Against Minor

A criminal case has been initiated by the Investigative Committee of Armenia regarding violence and sexual assault against a minor, related to a video circulating on the internet.

“In connection with the video disseminated on the internet regarding violence and sexual assault against a minor, a criminal case has been initiated on August 18, 2023, at the Gegharkunik Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia, based on a report received from the Police. This is under Article 196, Part 2, Points 3, 4, and 6, Article 198, Part 3, Points 1 and 2, Article 239, Part 2, Points 1 and 2, and Article 300, Part 3, Points 1 and 2 of the RA Criminal Code. The woman, identified as A.A., has been arrested on the grounds of reasonable suspicion of committing the crime.

The preliminary investigation is ongoing, and all necessary measures are being taken to fully clarify the circumstances of the incident and to ensure the protection of children's rights. The Investigative Committee of Armenia will provide more comprehensive information soon.”
