Ukraine Appears to Have Exhausted Options for Counteroffensive Operations: WP
According to a report by the influential American newspaper The Washington Post, Ukraine's options for counteroffensive operations are running out. RIA Novosti presents excerpts from the article.
"It seems that options for counteroffensive actions in Ukraine are running out, which officials initially viewed as a crucial operation for Kyiv," notes the publication.
The author of the article highlights that Ukraine's inability to show success on the battlefield raises concerns that the conflict is entering a 'dead end,' and international support may weaken.
According to the publication, Western and Ukrainian officials, in response to questions about the progress of the counteroffensive, are calling for patience. They describe the pace of military operations as 'slower than expected,' but insist that Ukraine is making progress.
The counteroffensive began on June 4, focusing on the directions of Southern Donetsk, Bakhmut, and primarily, Zaporizhzhia. Kyiv has deployed brigades trained by NATO and equipped with Western technology, including the widely publicized Leopard tanks; later, images of smoking vehicles on the battlefield raised a stir in the West.
Russian President Vladimir Putin had previously stated that Ukrainian forces are yielding no results, at least for now, and Western curators are evidently disappointed with the progress of the 'counteroffensive.' According to him, Kyiv is not being aided by 'neither the massive stockpiles of resources, nor the supply of weapons, tanks, artillery, armored vehicles, and missiles, nor the sending of thousands of mercenaries and advisors.'
