France Calls on China to Influence Russia to End War in Ukraine

French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna, in a phone conversation with her Chinese counterpart Wang Yi, called on Beijing to influence Russia to withdraw from its special military operation in Ukraine. According to Colonna, China should play an important role and exert pressure on Moscow to cease hostilities in Ukraine.

Beijing has repeatedly emphasized its support for a diplomatic solution to the existing disagreements between Russia and Ukraine. Chen Yikuan, Deputy Director of the Department of European and Central Asian Affairs of the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has stated that China will continue to promote a political resolution to the Ukraine conflict. To that end, Beijing plans to strengthen communication and cooperation with all parties involved, depending on the developments in the situation.

At the same time, Ukraine's Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba promised that Kyiv will do everything possible to raise “voices” in various countries about the necessity of negotiations with Russia.
