Video: Prime Minister's Comments on UN Security Council Discussion Regarding Crisis in Artsakh

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan addressed the government's meeting regarding the discussion held in the UN Security Council about the crisis in Artsakh.

“The truth about the illegal blockade of the Lachin Corridor and the resulting humanitarian crisis in Artsakh has been voiced at the highest international level. There has also been a collective call from the international community directed at Azerbaijan to lift the illegal blockade of the Lachin Corridor,” he stated.

The Prime Minister added, “Of course, this may seem strange to the Armenian public that I am recording this as a result of the discussions in the Security Council, but we must not forget that Azerbaijan constantly asserts that the Lachin Corridor is not blocked.”

Pashinyan noted that the call from the international community has not yet been realized, and 22 trucks carrying approximately 400 tons of humanitarian aid are waiting for the opportunity to enter Artsakh.

Meanwhile, according to him, the humanitarian situation in Artsakh is deteriorating day by day. “On one hand, Azerbaijan has blocked the entry of 100 tons of flour sent by the Armenian government to Artsakh, while on the other hand, it is not allowing the people of Artsakh to harvest the grains they have sown and produce flour. This is another fact that supports the thesis put forth by international experts that Azerbaijan is committing genocide against the Armenian population of Artsakh through hunger. Therefore, the opening of the Lachin Corridor should be viewed as a step towards preventing genocide. I believe the international community should focus on this perception,” said Pashinyan.

The Prime Minister emphasized that Armenia reaffirms its commitment to the peace agenda, calling on official Baku to refrain from actions aimed at nullifying the opportunity to establish peace.
