Babayann on UN Security Council Meeting: We Acknowledge We're Starving, Thank You, But What Changes?

The UN Security Council must adopt a clear resolution, as mere statements change nothing. This was stated by David Babayan, advisor to the president of Artsakh and former foreign minister, in an interview with NEWS.am.

“Otherwise, this will be a real victory for Azerbaijan. The issues of Artsakh residents are not resolved with the evaluations made, security is not ensured, and the danger of genocide does not disappear. We must wait to see what resolution they adopt or whether it will all end here, becoming yet another ineffective meeting.

Efforts must be made to achieve concrete results that will influence some, otherwise it will just be a case of one delegation speaking well while another does not, and then what? If this continues, Artsakh will be compelled to take drastic steps—are we to starve to death? Either we fight or we leave. We acknowledge we are starving, thank you, but what changes?” Babayan noted.

It should be reminded that on August 16, an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council was held at the request of Armenia regarding the worsening humanitarian situation in Nagorno-Karabakh due to Azerbaijan's blockade of the Lachin corridor and full encirclement of the region.
