Photos: Ararat Mirzoyan on the Drowning of Ukraine's Chargé d'Affaires in Sevan
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, Ararat Mirzoyan, sent a condolence letter on August 14 to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, in connection with the death of Ukraine’s Chargé d'Affaires in Armenia, Oleksandr Senchenko.
“I was saddened to learn about the tragic death of Oleksandr Senchenko, the Chargé d'Affaires of Ukraine in the Republic of Armenia. On behalf of the entire staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia and personally, I express my heartfelt condolences to Oleksandr Senchenko’s family, loved ones, and colleagues,” the letter states.
Earlier, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine confirmed that Oleksandr Senchenko had drowned in Lake Sevan on Sunday.
According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, at 20:17 on August 13, the crisis management center of the Gegharkunik regional rescue department received information that lifeguards on duty at the second public beach of Lake Sevan had observed a citizen who had gone missing while swimming approximately 25 meters from the shore. The lifeguards swam to that area, retrieved the citizen from a depth of about 1.5 meters, and transported him to the shore with a rubber motorboat. Emergency medical personnel recorded the citizen’s death.
