Details on the Murder in Malatia-Sebastia on August 7: What We Know

The investigation department of the Malatia-Sebastia administrative district of the Yerevan City Investigative Committee continues the preliminary investigation of the murder of 39-year-old Arsen Hovsepyan, which occurred on August 7, 2023, on R. Melikyan Street, as well as the illegal acquisition, storage, and carrying of firearms. This was reported by the Investigative Committee of Armenia.

As a result of urgent and extensive investigative and procedural actions, as well as necessary measures taken in collaboration with relevant units of the police, a number of significant circumstances related to the case have been clarified, including the identity of the person who allegedly committed the crime, who is identified as a 36-year-old man.

A decision has been made to initiate public criminal prosecution against him. A petition has been submitted to the court for applying detention as a preventive measure, which has been granted, and a search has been announced for him.

The victim, who later died, was transported to a medical center with a gunshot wound to the head. The preliminary investigation continues. Operational-investigative and operational-search measures are underway to clarify the circumstances of the crime and to locate the accused.
