Construction of an unprecedented 40 km long gas pipeline is underway; 26 km completed so far

During a working meeting at the Yerevan City Hall, Deputy Mayor Tigran Avinyan noted that residents of the city see many streets under construction, which is for a very important project. He suggested that the mayor's advisor, Kamo Areyan, present an explanation for why many streets in the city are being excavated.

According to Areyan, based on the approved plan at the beginning of the year, as of now, the gas demand in Yerevan is being met through the first gas distribution center. The current progress of the project includes areas like Saralandj, Teryan, Azatutyan, and the Tbilisi Highway. The gas pipeline in this section was initially 6 kilometers long, and now only 2.5 kilometers remain, with completion expected by September 15, 2023. The Avan, Acharian, and Babajanyan section spans 3.5 kilometers, with 1.7 kilometers left to be completed by October 30, 2023. Areyan mentioned that the construction on Babajanyan Street has been postponed to 2024, so that the entire gas supply line can be completed in 2023.

Speaking about the section along the Sevan Highway, Tbilisi Street, and Arabkir, Griboedov, he indicated that it covers 7 kilometers, and the work there has been fully completed, with the asphalt layer restored. "To ensure the public's understanding, I must clarify that these gas pipelines approach the neighborhoods. However, this does not mean that gas is entering the apartments. Within this section, to everyone's delight, works on internal gas supply have begun. The first buildings are on Adonc's block, and gas is already supplying the apartments," Areyan noted, emphasizing that this is a comprehensive solution to the gas demand of the residents.

Areyan provided an update regarding the work on the remaining sections, adding that a new project has started which includes the Davtashen neighborhood. He emphasized that the scale of gas pipeline construction has increased to 40 kilometers. According to Areyan, this is an unprecedented volume: "Out of the 40 kilometers, 26 kilometers have currently been completed in just 5 months. We expect to finish this project at this pace by the end of the year."
