When the route of the Lachin Corridor changed without agreement: Armenian government suggests contacting Artsakh
The office of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has not clarified when the authorities of Artsakh agreed to change the route of the Lachin Corridor without coordination with Yerevan. “We suggest you direct your inquiry to the authorities of Nagorno-Karabakh,” it is stated in the written response to Sputnik Armenia’s question.
During the last press conference, Pashinyan stated that the authorities of Nagorno-Karabakh had agreed to change the route of the Lachin Corridor without consulting the leadership of Armenia. The change of route is mentioned in point 6 of the trilateral statement of November 9, 2020, which stipulates that a new route that ensures the connection between Nagorno-Karabakh and Armenia will be established in coordination with the parties (Russia, Armenia, Azerbaijan) within the next three years, with the subsequent repositioning of Russian peacekeeping forces for the purpose of maintaining that route.
Since then, the route has changed twice—at the end of August 2022 and at the end of March 2023.
