Prohibited Items Found in Shoes of Visitor at Goris Prison

On July 28, 2023, at approximately 16:35, during a personal search of visitor S.H. at the Goris penitentiary of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia, several prohibited items were discovered.

The operational staff, acting on operational information previously received from the Armavir penitentiary, searched the visitor who had come to see inmate I.A. As a result, they found and seized 1 mobile phone, 1 SIM card, and 3 sharp objects hidden in the visitor's sports shoes.

S.H. verbally stated that he intended to transfer the mobile phone and SIM card to the inmate, while claiming to be unaware of the sharp objects and not knowing how they ended up in his shoes.

It is noted that a criminal case has been initiated regarding this incident by the Goris investigative department of the Syunik regional investigative office of the Investigative Committee of Armenia.
