Denmark and Sweden Discuss Ban on Burning of the Quran
The governments of Denmark and Sweden are discussing how to prohibit or limit the public burning of the Quran and other religious texts without violating their fundamental principles of free speech and expression. Such actions have recently caused significant problems for both countries.
Denmark's Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen stated on Sunday to Danish DR television that the government is looking for a legal way to ban the burning of the Quran in front of Muslim embassies.
Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson announced on social media that his government is also seeking ways to prohibit such actions, and that he is discussing the matter with his Danish counterpart Mette Frederiksen.
