Armenian Weightlifters Win 2 More Medals at European Championships

At the European Weightlifting Championships for athletes under 20 and 23 years old held in Bucharest, Armenian competitors Gor Sahakyan and Martin Poghosyan have become medalists.

Gor Sahakyan recorded a total result of 311 kg, winning a silver medal in the clean and jerk, lifting 140 kg in the snatch and 171 kg in the clean and jerk. Martin Poghosyan, on the other hand, secured a bronze medal in total. He lifted 136 kg in the snatch and 172 kg in the clean and jerk, earning him a small gold medal.

The total result for the weightlifter was 308 kg.

It should be noted that the Armenian team has already won 7 medals at the European Championships. Garni Cholakyan became the gold medalist in the 61 kg category with a result of 255 kg, while bronze medals were won by Meruzhan Yeghoyan in the 61 kg category, Seyran Khudanyan in the 55 kg category, Alexandra Grigoryan in the 59 kg category, and Tigran Karapetyan became the vice-champion of the European Championships in the 67 kg category.

The European Youth Championship is taking place from July 23 to August 3.
