Poland to Double the Number of Armed Forces
Poland is set to nearly double the number of its armed forces. The relevant document has already been signed, Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak has stated.
“I can say that today the Polish Army has 172,000 soldiers. I am referring here to all personnel - both professional and territorial defense. Our goal is for the Polish Army to have at least 300,000 soldiers. We are consistently implementing this objective,” he said.
It is expected that the number of divisions in the Polish Army will increase from 4 to 6, while defense spending will rise to 4% of GDP.
