Despite Our Efforts, the Situation is Critical. Mher Grigoryan
Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan attended a solemn event organized by the Embassy of France on the occasion of the National Day of the French Republic.
The Deputy Prime Minister delivered a speech, congratulating France on its National Day on behalf of the Government, wishing the friendly country and its people prosperity, and the Armenian-French friendship longevity.
“On July 14, 1789, the French, united around the noble ideas of liberty, equality, and fraternity, outlined the path of fundamental freedoms and democracy for the modern world. I want to emphasize that the historical ties between Armenia and France, based on universal values, have played a crucial role in the development of our special intergovernmental relations. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the two countries have managed to create a close political dialogue and effective cooperation in all areas,” noted Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan.
In his speech, the Deputy Prime Minister also highlighted France's significant role in Armenian history, particularly in the early 20th century, when thousands of Armenians who escaped genocide found refuge on the friendly soil of France, gaining the opportunity for a dignified life.
“We highly appreciate the important role of our friend, President Emmanuel Macron, in addressing the resolution of Armenia-Azerbaijan relations and the rights and security of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh. I regret to inform that despite our efforts to establish lasting stability and peace in the region, the situation is currently critical,” said Mher Grigoryan.
Concluding his remarks, the Deputy Prime Minister took the opportunity to thank the outgoing French Ambassador Anne Louy for her efforts in expanding and deepening Armenian-French relations and wished her success, assuring that she will always remain a friend of the Armenians.
