General Arrested in Spectacular Masked Operation, Hands Twisted: Media

Earlier today, former Secretary of the Artsakh Security Council Vitaly Balasanyan was arrested at his home in Askeran, according to Aravot.am. Also arrested were his son, brother, and nephew.

The general was detained in a dramatic manner, masked and with his hands twisted. The grounds for the arrests will be presented shortly.

Member of the Artsakh Parliament's 'Justice' faction, Metakse Hakobyan, confirmed the news in a conversation with us, the website reports.

Naira Zohrapyan, head of the 'Security and Democracy' human rights NGO, wrote: 'Armenian national security conducted a search at Balasanyan's residence for about 40 minutes, after which he and his son were taken in.'
