Emergency Declared in Sverdlovsk Region of Russia Due to Forest Fires
The governor of Russia's Sverdlovsk region, Yevgeny Kuyvashev, has declared a state of emergency due to the situation in the forests. This information has been reported by TASS.
The emergency measures will take effect starting July 13. Denis Mamontov, the region's Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, has been appointed as the head of the emergency response unit.
According to TASS, one person has died and two others have been injured as a result of the fire. Previously, according to the press service of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry, it was reported that the fire that broke out in the village of Shayduriha in the Nevyansk urban district has been contained.
The rapid spread of the fire has been facilitated by dry and windy weather, with gusts reaching up to 27 m/s. Residents of the affected area have been evacuated, and approximately 140 firefighters and 46 units of equipment, as well as a helicopter from the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, are involved in battling the blaze.
